Symphony and Coronavirus Update Tuesday 24th March 2020

Over the past few weeks, we have been monitoring Government advice and guidance on how we manage our business with the COVID-19 outbreak. This is clearly a very serious and unique situation which is developing at some pace along with the advice and guidance issued the government

As you would expect our primary concern is the well-being and safety of our staff, suppliers and customers. Therefore over the past few weeks Symphony has concentrated its resources into ensuring that, as well as maintaining continuity of supply, we have also fully safeguarded those who work for us and we have contact with.

The latest Government advice announced by the Prime Minister last night (Monday 23rd March) is clear on the need to take even more stringent measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Also today (Tuesday 24th March) many of our customers have confirmed the closure of building sites, merchants and retail premises in line with advice issued by the Government.

We have, in line with both Government advice and our customers, now decided that Symphony will temporarily close for business from Friday 27th March for a period of three weeks until Monday 20th April. Today we have had severe disruption with our planned delivery schedule and therefore will be suspending all deliveries from the close of play today (Tuesday 24th March). There will then be no further deliveries until we reopen.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and be guided by Government advice. If we need to extend the period of closure we will update you. We will also publish updates on the home page of our website

During the closure period, our switchboard will remain open and our administration team will continue with home working. We would request you to contact us by email rather than by telephone. You can also contact your normal point of contact, as usual, Thank you for your continued support and commitment.

We would emphasise that we have come into this crisis in a very strong position. We are looking to support and work with you by striving to deliver the levels of service you have come to expect from Symphony during this period.
