Traditional Scandinavian design is characterised by simplicity, minimalism and functionality. Scandi design is all about modern, clean lines, muted colours and natural materials. The key to achieving a scandi look is using a very pale or white colour scheme, and applying this idea to the kitchen is easy to do.

If you like the Scandi style, then think about incorporating the following into your design.

Think Natural

Bring the outside in with large windows to flood you kitchen with natural light, or have lots of greenery and plant life to bring a sense of calm to your space.

Pale Colour Palette

Use lots of whites, or lighter muted colours (if you want some colour) in your kitchen design. Platinum, Cashmere, Stone or Sage are perfect for your Scandi kitchen. Using white or pale colours in your kitchen can make the space seem lighter and brighter, and help even in the smallest of spaces. A lighter colour scheme, as shown above, will allow more light to reflect around the room, giving the illusion of a larger kitchen.

Natural Materials

Don’t forget to use lots of wood in your design. Pair a wooden floor with a solid surface worktop for a scandi feel, or opt for a natural wood work top for a more country theme.

Affordable

The ultimate in Scandi design is incorporating the idea of the affordable and accessible.  Our Cranbrook range is a simple shaker style that is characterised by simplicity and versatility and will suit every type of home.  It is also one of the lowest priced ranges in our collection, speak to your local retailer for more information. Cranbrook is the perfect kitchen to showcase the Scandi trend as it provides versatility that allows it to be the centrepiece of almost any kitchen design with its simple shaker style that offers modern clean lines to any space.
