Create the perfect dressing room space with Embrace grey arrow

09/2007

With the average woman's wardrobe containing at least 19 pairs of shoes, 10 handbags and 10 or more belts, it's no surprise that our bedroom storage is bursting at the seams.

Not everyone has the luxury of a separate dressing room so to help you create a clutter free, structured wardrobe or dressing area, bedroom experts at Embrace have put together the perfect combination of fitted furniture and luxury internal storage options to provide a home for everything from soft cashmere jumpers and sharp tailored suits to designer shoes and brightly coloured scarves.

Embrace's Design Manager, Josie Medved, explains: "The contents of our wardrobes are extremely valuable, both in terms of what all the items cost and what the clothes mean to us. Many of us attach sentiment to that gorgeous pair of shoes that blew the budget or luxurious cashmere jumper bought as a special gift, so we should treat our clothes and accessories with some love and respect."

Fitted furniture is ideal for helping you make best use of all the available space in your bedroom, providing a selection of high and low level storage options for all your worldly possessions.

"But, when it comes to designing a functional bank of wardrobes or stylish dressing room area, it is the storage behind closed doors such as illuminated hanging rails, shelving, trouser and tie racks and wirework storage accessories that makes all the difference."

To create your own orderly wardrobe or stylish dressing room area, Josie suggests:

  • Divide your wardrobes into two zones: one for long items such as dresses and suits, the other for jumpers, skirts and coats. This will create plenty of valuable hanging space on one side, while the second area can accommodate a combination of shelves and drawers
  • Fold cashmere and wool jumpers to avoid coat hangers leaving their mark and store in drawers with glazed frontals so you can see what is inside at a glance
  • Incorporate shelving next to your set of drawers to provide a home for handbags of all shapes and sizes
  • Use Embrace's tie racks to store scarves, belts and even your jewellery. The tie racks will keep everything neat and orderly and will avoid your jewellery or belts tangling up into one big ball
  • Luxury wirework storage is ideal for displaying your array of precious shoes. Shoes can be ordered by colour or occasion, allowing you to co-ordinate your outfits without digging at the bottom of your wardrobe for the first pair of shoes that comes along
  • It's not just men that need trouser racks; women too need space for jeans and trousers. Embrace's trouser rack slides forward and the arms pivot for easy access so you can quickly pick your favourite pair of jeans and go.
